OUR HISTORY

Minister Joyce Elliott had worked with Kathie Sproull at Head Start.

She joyfully exclaimed the mission and work of CWU and recruited her to start a local

unit in our area. Kathie approached me, Vicki Young, to help her. We were established in

January 2019 with Kathie Sproull as the first president and me as the first Secretary/Treasurer.

We began monthly meetings and the journey to plan 3 celebrations a year.

We spent some time attending other established units to learn from them. The Alton

Area Unit and Granite City Units were very helpful. We have been able to hold all 3

celebrations in some way every year since. We have had only 6 members so far at the

most, but we are small and mighty in Christ!

We have had 4 churches involved to this point and plan to grow by joining other local

groups and churches in established missions. Shipman, IL is our home base, and it is

located on Route 16. Our goal is to join with bigger communities of Brighton, Piasa,

Jerseyville, Carlinville, and Bunker Hill.

We plan to keep our unit alive, active, and growing in His service.
